When a lady shop in a mall and finds two a beautiful dresses in a certain store and was torn as to which she would pick between the two. She finds one dress as elegant and the color fit her skin tone, but the design is simple while the other one has complicated designs, and still it looks good on her, but she doesn’t like the color. She takes time picking which dress to choose and then in the end just decided to buy bought. One thing is common about the two dresses – the designs worked and fit the taste of the lady. One can recall way back in school days where one is required to submit an artwork design it accordingly. One may be surprised that when one’s work with simple designs gets a higher mark in comparison to the work of one student with many designs in it and in the next project, the one with a simple design got a lower grade in comparison to the work of one with many designs. This instance may bring one to think, what kind of design really works?

The reality is that, any kind of design will actually work – provided that it should be in the right place and in the right application. Design is not always all about putting many things in your artwork just to make it look attractive. One work may get more attention from the crowd, but it could sometimes mean that there is so much clutter going and that’s the reason why people can’t help but notice it. One can even hear during the awards night of various awards giving bodies for actors and singers about various comments on how the stars are dressed and pose in the red carpet as they make their way inside. Some would say some worked but just a little too much or some are just playing it safe with their choice of the dress, the styling of the hair and even the accessories.

The right mix of design does not end in the outfit one wears. It can apply to many aspects like in the buildings, in an interior of a house or room, in the different websites and even in the simple details in one’s accessories. When it comes to art, there are many factors to consider such as a dimension, shades of various colors, placement and sometimes even what medium works best. Various kinds of designs became effective whenever these factors are being taken into consideration. Planning the design always involve making a draft of what should the outcome look like. Designers who usually make effective designs took the time studying the many factors contributing to a good design practice and design outcomes. The plain and simple designs may often work in events, which call for formality or elegance. Some would sometimes say it is very conventional or playing it safe, but what matters is it works. One can even observe that there are some who make some experimentation with design, particularly in an interior of a house or an office. Some designers would mix different designs from various cultures sometimes contrasting the designs to add variety and some twists in the outcome. These design approaches contribute a lot to the evolution of design trends and people embracing the designs from foreign influences.

Designs may change from time to time and that is because there are designers who make risky moves of experimenting or sometimes not going for the conventional design principles. Because of these innovations, that is why new styles emerged and brought a whole new perspective to the conventional designs. Some would even try bringing back designs, which are popular years ago and gives it some combination with the latest design trends.

A particular design is not always expected to work in the eyes of every person. Some people may go to the conventional and stick to the basics which still work or take the risk of venturing into their own version of designs just to be original and unique. However, if one wishes to get the nod of the majority of the people, one may consider consulting people with knowledge of about how to make effective designs or just stick to what works best. If the whole outcome didn’t give favorable results, then one may take out the elements out of the picture and modify your design or just start from scratch again.

Some Web Designers are very technical that they forgot the real purpose of designing a Web Page or even a website. Below are some useful and important tips in designing a high quality Web site that visitors will surely have a great lasting impression:

1.) Loading Time: You may design website that looks great but if it loads really slow then definitely people will look for another site. You should design a site that opens the page less than 12 to 15 seconds. Web designing always consider how long it will take for people to open the page.

Now how will you design a site that loads faster?

Images: Very often the simple designs are the best. The key to fast loading websites are images, minimize the use of images instead use images 40% to 50% only to enhance the image of your site not 80%. Instead of using pictures use catchy simple HTML.

Enhance Web Images: You can reduce the size of the picture or image by selecting the colors that you need, from the colors’ section. The less colors you use the lesser the size. Furthermore, make sure to optimize the picture that you will use in your site, they should be in jpeg or gif format. Note that there are many online tools that you can download that will cut down the size of the picture.

Use Simple Icons: Instead of using big icons use small and simple icons that add little color but still draw interest of the visitor.

Use CCS Styles: Use cool text effects in CCS style. CCS style is a simple HTML code as a result it loads fast.

Test Final Design: prior to deciding on your final design make sure to check its load time is Net Mechanic. This site gives you a free analysis of your website, which is very important in deciding whether to continue your current design, or you need to change it.

Minimize Graphics and Flash: this will massively increase your file size.

2.) Computer Resolutions: You need to design your site according to computer resolution. Computer resolution rages from 640 x 480 to 1024 x 768 or higher. Design your site according to percentage and not pixels.

3.) Fonts: Do not use fancy fonts that are not available in other computers. Use common web fonts.

4.) Browser Compatibility: Your site should look good in the most common browser not only in Internet Explorer. You have to check how it looks in Safari browser, Opera browser, Google Chrome, Netscape Navigator. Do not stop developing your site, unless it looks good in all common browsers.

5.) Broken links: Always check for broken links before uploading your site to the web server. You can do this in your Dreamweaver software, or you can upload your site and then check broken links using online tools.

6.) Clean Layout Design: A clean layout design uses many white spaces, which enhanced the site’s appearance. Focus on your content and again use Dreamweaver templates.

7.) Search Feature: If your website consists of more than 10 pages, it is useful to have a search feature this is to make sure that your visitors can easily locate what they are searching for.

8.) Web Content: While it’s important that your website is clean and looks professional, it’s extremely important that you focus on your content and advertising. Stay away from: Auto played music, this is very annoying let your visitor play the music not you. Loads of pop-ups, visitors might close your site thinking that your pop-ups can inflect virus to their computers. Avoid applying animation intros and too much animation, oftentimes this can confuse novice users. Avoid the use of counters that says you are the 100th visitor.

9.) User friendly Navigation System: This is one of the most important issues to conceptualize when creating and designing a website. You need to make sure that your visitors can easily get what they are looking for. Conventional websites display their navigation bar at the top or on the left side make sure to adhere to this since users are becoming familiar to this navigational location.
